Thrillers

Well you couldn’t read two such different thrillers back to back. P D James, in her 92nd year, decided to have some fun and write the follow up to Pride and Prejudice, but of course, being PD James, it needed a murder in Pemberley! Death Comes to Pemberley is such fun, and the knowing tongue in cheek comments from a mainly invisible author are delightful. If you enjoy Austen and James you will enjoy this – though I wouldn’t recommend it to Austen purists though, as I’m sure they’d just get annoyed!

Jo Nesbo was recommended to me by a Norwegian friend – though obviously I read the English translation. The Redbreast is a thick, gripping and thoroughly involving thriller set in Oslo, and Harry Hole, the main protagonist, is the sort of character you want to meet again.
